The Japanese government has declared a nuclear emergency. At least 2,000 residents near the Fukushima nuclear power plant have been evacuated from their homes after the cooling system at the plant failed. The Japanese government says it has deactivated 11 of the nation’s 55 nuclear plants. Meanwhile, a fire has broken out in the turbine building of the Onagawa nuclear plant.
The walls of a building at nuclear power station crumbled Saturday as smoke poured out and Japanese officials said they feared the reactor could melt down following the failure of its cooling system in a powerful earthquake and tsunami.
Pressure has been building up in the reactor — it’s now twice the normal level — and Japan’s Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency told reporters Saturday that it was venting “radioactive vapors” to relieve that pressure. Officials said they were measuring radiation levels in the area.
The reactor in trouble has already leaked radiation: Operators at the Fukushima Daiichi plant’s Unit 1 detected eight times the normal radiation levels outside the facility and 1,000 times normal inside Unit 1’s control room.

Can you control tsunami? NO
Can you choose safer energy source? YES
Then why we going for this dangerous technology? Because we are run by the stupid economists and politicians.
Instead of a nuclear plant, if it was wind farm, or solar plant, there is no thread to people or future generation. Also there will not be power shortage because wind solar technologies are distributed micro generation. Disaster in one place will not affect other part. So its more economic.
So why still we pushing this dangerous old failed technology in the expense of tax payer money. Please understand the nuclear mafia propaganda and stop spending money is a disaster.

Nuclear power – just about the most ridiculous, dangerous, costly and wasteful way to boil water* ever undertaken.
* There may be a confusion when we say nuclear power plant. “Keep Uranium on clay dish, then connect 2 electrodes, now electricity will flow through the electrodes”. Mainstream media in India is selling this kind of thoughts. Actually its not like that. Atomic reaction will release intense amount of energy in the form of gamma rays, ultraviolet, infrared, x rays etc. In these only infrared, which is heat, is used in power plant to boil water. Boiled water releases steam. That steam is used in turbine to convert its pressure energy to electricity as the same way as coal based thermal power plant. But in nuclear plant things are costly and dangerous.
