BSNL mobile broadband on Gnu/Linix KDE desktop

BSNL is not giving new landline connections. So only option left with me is mobile broadband for getting internet. To get a connection i went to BSNL office. They asked one photo and id proof for getting new prepaid 3G SIM. For sim they charged Rs 59/- and I brought a USB dongle from them for Rs 1680/-. ZTE device which support up to 3.6 Mbps.

Sim activation status can be checked by putting it on a mobile and pressing *123#. In the evening it got activated. Found the number. Now it has to be recharged. Rs 96/- plan gives 1 gb and 1 year validity.

Put the sim the USB dongle and connect to computer.

To get data balance send DATA3G SMS to 53733.

[It takes some time for the machine to detect the dongle. So please wait for that before doing anything.]

But there is no comparison to BSNL wired broadband. But what to do. Thanks for govt policy to destroy BSNL. Nation has huge unemployment issue, BSNL has huge job vacancy.
