The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh on Sunday rejected any charge that it had defended the killing of Mohammad Akhlaq and distanced itself from an article published in its mouthpiece Panchjanya that quoted the Vedas to justify killing those who slaughter cows.
RSS prachar pramukh Manmohan Vaidya said: “The report based on the Dadri incident is blatantly false and baseless. The RSS has never supported any incident of violence.”
This week’s edition of Panchjanya has an article that states that the Vedas ordain the killing of “sinners” who slaughter cows and alleges that madrassas and the Muslim leadership teach Indian Muslims to hate the country’s traditions.
It then goes on to claim that Akhlaq’s lynching was a “natural reaction” to the “sin” of cow slaughter and referred to Isaac Newton’s third law that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
It goes on to say that “if you do not respect the feelings of 80 per cent majority,” then how can “such reactions be prevented”.
