Stop corporations gambling on hunger

Betting on food in the financial markets sent food prices rocketing in recent years driving hunger and poverty across the globe. In January 2014, campaigners across Europe helped to win vital EU legislation to tackle excessive speculation on food in the financial markets.

Now, a deadline is coming up for the European Commission to decide how to implement the legislation. The measures we fought so hard for are on the verge of being massively weakened, allowing reckless excessive speculation to continue.

Sign our open letter to call on Jonathan Hill – the European commissioner for financial services – to back strong, effective rules. Please help stop corporations from betting on hunger.

Please sign.
