Thousands of Teachers Across England Go on Strike Against Austerity

Decrying widespread funding cuts, ballooning class sizes, lengthening workdays, and the Conservative government’s emphasis on austerity in public education, thousands of teachers across England walked out of classes on Tuesday(5/7/16) for a 24-hour nationwide strike. Approximately 7,000 of England’s 22,000 publicly-run state schools were affected by the strike.
