Chile has asked the international community for help in the wake of its worst wildfire in history that has so far destroyed more than 100,000 hectares of forest. The fires have been fed by a prolonged drought and temperatures that have topped 40 degrees Celsius. Chile declared a state of emergency on Friday as more than a dozen wildfires threatened to encroach on towns, factories and vineyards. Chile’s National Forestry Corporation said there were 129 wildfires raging across the country on Saturday.
