A woman withdrew Rs 3.10 lakh through thumb impression machine in Sirsona village in Karera tehsil of MP’s Shivpuri district.
The woman Mamta Koli thought that the amount had been credited into her Jan Dhan account by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She repaid her loan, purchased bike for her husband Surendra Koli and jewellery for herself. But her joy was short-lived. Soon the bank staff reached her home along with the police team and told her the reality. The bank staff took Rs 85000 that was still left with her and gave her some time to repay the balance amount.
Anil Nagar runs a garment shop in the village. He said he deposited Rs 3.50 lakh at the Madhyanchal Gramin Bank branch after selling his tractor. In fact the bank account of Anil Nagar had got linked with the woman’s Aadhar. The woman did not know about this. At the kiosk centre she withdrew total of Rs 3.10 lakh through thumb impression machine.
Anil Nagar said he had deposited the money for his daughter’s marriage and he needs it immediately. On the other hand the woman Mamta Koli said she had spent the amount and had no money left. Ajay Dandotiya, manager, Madhyanchal Gramin Bank branch, said the woman has been given time to repay the amount and legal action would be taken against her if she does not repay within the time limit.
