According to a study published in the World Health Organization (WHO) bulletin, over a third of the world’s population is obese. The report also says that governments need to make food supply healthier to reduce obesity-related problems. A person with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or more is considered obese. Around 37 per cent of men and 38 per cent of women are overweight, the study adds. Between 1980 and 2013, the proportion of adults who were overweight worldwide increased from 28.8 per cent to 36.9 per cent in men and from 29.8 per cent to 38 per cent in women, the study says.
