Lack of Transparency in PM-CARES Fund ‘Disturbing’

A group of 100 former civil servants have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, criticising the lack of transparency associated with the PM-CARES Fund. The Central government refusing to divulge information about the Fund under the Right to Information Act, by claiming it is not a public authority, was the immediate trigger for the letter. There is a clear absence of transparency in every aspect of PM-CARES. Neither details of donors and amounts received nor details of expenditures incurred are in the public domain.
