Former US National Security Agency (NSA) contractor Edward Snowden received the Glass of Reason, award of the citizens of the German city of Kassel worth 10,000 euro ($11,230). Award’s organizers said that they made this choice because the whistleblower “with courage, competence and reason has taken a conscience decision and put his past life and safety at stake for a bigger thing.” The award was established by the citizens of Kassel in 1990 to honor individuals for their contribution to the ideas of Enlightenment.
