Uganda targets children for conservation awareness

Uganda is home to a wide variety of primates, including chimpanzees and mountain gorillas. Deforestation, hunting and rapid population growth are among the threats facing the country’s wildlife. Aiming to inspire future generations to protect the country’s wildlife, Uganda has made conservation education part of its national curriculum. Conservation education centers, which give children first-hand introductions to chimpanzees and other wildlife, are a key part of the education effort.
