On Friday, federal court filings revealed that a New York man, Patrick W. Carlineo, had been arrested and charged with threatening to assault and murder Representative Ilhan Omar. According to a criminal complaint written out by a Corning, New York based FBI agent, Carlineo used a cell phone to call Omar’s Washington office. He threatened a staffer. The Democratic congresswoman, who represents a Minneapolis-based district, was first elected to Congress in 2018, becoming one of the first Muslim women to serve in office on Capitol Hill.
