Global average CO2 emission is 5.03 tones. India’s per capita CO2 emission is 1.67 tones.
Rich people in India who has income above Rs 30000/- per month emits 4.97 tomes of CO2
Poor people below Rs 3000/- per month emit 1.11 tones of CO2.
That is, Indian rich emits 4.5 times more CO2 than its poorest.
To keep the temperature rise below 2 degree C, scientists suggests CO2 emission should be below 2.5 tones per capita. All Indian classes that earns above Rs 8000/- per month are already above this limit.
Several appliances found only in rich households like Air conditioners, electric geysers, washing machines, DVD players, computers etc. And much greater use of transportation using fossil fuels, including gas-guzzling cars and air planes are used by this rich Indians.
Climate crunching consumption patterns are promoted like in US/Europe.
Due to corporate pressure government is pushing carbon intensive economy.
