As many as 128 veterans of the Armed Forces have released a statement “unconditionally and unequivocally” supporting farmers who are peacefully protesting against the three farm laws at the borders of Delhi. “We stand in solidarity with the peacefully protesting farmers, empathise with them, and support their demands,” the veterans have written. Urging the government to consider the farmers’ demand to repeal the laws “since no prior consultation with the primary stakeholders was held,” the brief statement also criticises and condemns the police’s use of tear gas and water cannon on farmers while they were travelling towards Delhi on November 26 and 27.
