Largest electric bus fleet launch

An electric bus manufacturing company, BYD has been awarded a contract to supply over 300 all electric buses for 2011 International Universiade Games to be held in Shenzhen, China. The eBus-12 is a long range vehicle meant for undertaking journey as long as 300km, and is the first of its kind manufactured by BYD, a leading Chinese manufacturer of high performance eco friendly rechargeable battery and green technologies.
The eBus-12 is the outcome of BYD’s commitment for a zero-emission transport system and speaks volumes about the company’s capabilities. The company has employed in-wheel motor drive system and Iron Phospate (Fe) Battery technology to build a pure electric vehicle. To facilitate the rider-friendly approach, the company has incorporated an axle-free drive system due to which eBus floor is much lower than normal kinds of buses.
the bus depends upon high quality Fe battery apparatus with eco-friendly rechargeable system. While a single charge allows a fully loaded bus to cover almost 250 km, the battery’s fast recharge mechanism takes only half-an-hour to achieve 50 percent state of charge. As eBus-12 air-conditioning draws heavy load, it is offset by BYD solar panels integrated atop the bus roof that converts solar energy into electrical energy. This electricity is stored in the Fe Battery.
